The Junior Coaching Academy provides a comprehensive coaching programme that provides children with the knowledge and skills to become the best golfers they can be.
An essential element to our approach is to provide players with a variety of fun and thought provoking games, which are designed to encourage their creativity and to further their learning and development. Remember, golf is a game of challenges, with obstacles that we aim to overcome, so what better way to learn than through lots of exciting games and challenging experiences.
All sessions are delivered by PGA professionals and designed to provide an enjoyable learning experience for all children who take part, learning the skills that will develop them as athletes, players and people.
The programme centres around three main areas:
The programme consists of weekly coaching courses and holiday camps, and helps provide playing opportunities with the Par 3 Junior Masters.
The coaching courses are divided into three groups with regards to their age and ability.
It's all about the fundamentals! Here, they will gain a better awareness of striking, agility, balance, coordination and speed necessary for golf. They will be introduced to playing the game and discover the basic fundamentals of the swing and short game.
Developing the fundamentals from the previous group, they wil now gain a better understanding of playing, short game and the swing. They will also continue improving their athletic ability and spend time discovering new skills in many areas of the game.
Each group will only have a maximum of 8 pupils to maintain the quality of tuition and attention to individual development.
During the courses, there will be various learning tasks and challenges for them to meet. Once they have developed the knowledge of selected skills and shown they can apply them, they will move up a level. They will progress through a number of development levels, where they will be presented an award for each level they achieve.
The levels are not awards for who is best, although these skills will develop better players, but are based around a player's attitude and application to their game. At the end of every term each player will receive a player report highlighting their successes and areas for improvement.
To help support their development all juniors under 15 are entitled to discounted individual lessons with Resident PGA Professional, Robert Godber.
