In the tranquil grounds of the Brocket Hall estate lies Melbourne Lodge, our elegant Georgian coach house conversion. Previously the stable block, it sheltered the tireless steeds that not only took the Hall’s residents hunting, but also provided the main point of interest on race days proudly held on the private race course that circled the Estate during the 18th Century.
With beautiful views of the Hall, Broadwater Lake and the Melbourne golf course, the 16 luxurious en-suite rooms in Melbourne Lodge are the perfect place to retire to after an exhilarating round of golf on one of our championship golf courses, a sumptuous dinner in Auberge du Lac, Hertfordshire’s award-winning fine dining restaurant, or a lavish wedding or private party. They make for a perfectly relaxing or romantic country retreat, where guests can enjoy the beautiful, tranquil surroundings of the Estate and its facilities.
All 16 bedrooms are appointed to the highest standard, in traditional country house style to provide a relaxing and luxurious experience. Grandly spacious, and furnished with original pieces from the Estate, they all hold a piece of history. In keeping with the former use of Melbourne Lodge, each room is named after one of the great racehorses of the day and a fascinating history of the former ‘residents’ can be found on your arrival. Whether they choose Crepello or Northern Dancer, Nijinsky or Red Rum, our guests always find a favourite to which they look forward to returning again and again.
